We have a 9-month-old child that just loves any type of music. My husband bought this for him as an impulse item a couple months ago and the baby just LOVES it. He will be crying and the music just stops him in his tracks.
It's been dropped, thrown, chewed on and it's still working. Of course, I do need to put in new batteries. But that's okay, he loves pushing the button to make it play. We've also used the linking rings to hang it from the car seat or swing so that it's within reach for him.
Add to that, many of the songs are the same as the Baby Einstein Lullabies cd, and I know that it will calm him down in almost any circumstance.

This toy is our saving grace in the car for our daughter ever since she was 6 months old and could grab it and turn on the music and lights by herself. We don't drive anywhere at night without it. Now at 9 months she lights up when she sees it. My son loves to grab it and pretend it is his own cellphone, his own iPod, his own microphone. And the music does not make me crazy as some of their other toys. Its nice non-tinny classical music.

My 6 month old son loved this toy ever since he was 2 months old. When he's fussy in the car I just give this toy to him and he calms down immediately! There are two volumes so if we are in the car I turn it to the highest volume and if we're in a public place or my office I just turn it down. The songs are long enough that they grab his attention for a few seconds. He loves to look at the blinking lights that play along with song as well. I feel this will be a toy he will enjoy for a while.

I bought this for my son who is now three. He loved it then and my new baby - eight months - loves it now. It's a great purchase. Batteries last forever.
