"A Saxophonist and his kid" 2009-12-29
By Aaron C. Glass (Provo, UT United States)
What a wonderful product. Well constructed and fun to play, this little invention is loved by my daughter and myself who both have fun playing it. This instrument really is just a harmonica with buttons but I find the 8 note major scale is very intuitive and allows my little one to experiment with various melodies (and harmonies when you press more than one button at a time).

Nice look as opposed to many others I've seen. Not sure how well it will hold up with a 3 year old? The sound is pleasant and I think a much better bet than buying a pre-programmed electronic sax which could drive you crazy. Also this allows more imaginative play. Great toy.

 "Very Disappointed" 2010-01-02
By Dr. Abu Reza M Wajih (USA)
The "cube" that was shipped as a gift stopped working after the first battery change. I was unaware of this defect and the gift recipient was too polite to bring it my attention until my visit to their premises a few weeks ago. Munchkin dutifully applied the standard trick argument that the warranty had expired! There is no written warranty anywhere but Munchkin has fooled me for the last time and for a paltry sum of $20!! Shame on Munchkin!!!

"A musical toy that doesn't drive us crazy!" 2009-12-29
By Regina Wade (Tennessee)
We gave this toy to our 11 month old and she loves it! She loves to sit and bang on whatever button is on the top, listening to the song start and stop and watching the blinking light turn on and off.

We love it because it plays beautiful, classical style music that actually sounds good. Seriously, one of the songs is the best rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" I've heard coming from a kids' toy! The lights behind each button blink in response to however that instrument is playing at the time (an equalizer style light). We also like that hitting a button so that the music disappears in the middle of the song and then hitting it again doesn't restart the song, it just mutes it. So we don't hear the beginning of the same song over and over and over again. We also like the variety of songs in the toy: it plays 6-8 songs that you can flip though by hitting the "orchestra" button.

Overall: we love it! Nicely built, nicely executed, good sound, bright colors, nice feel, AND our baby loves it.

"Do You Need A New Book End?" 2009-12-23
By Kat May (Where it is Cold & Snowy)
This is horrible. After spending most of my life studying music I am sad to say that this will ruin any child's ear for music if they have one. I thought it was just ours that always sounds out of tune and like a dying cow, but it isn't. The movie preview isn't much better than the one in our home. It has a bit more rhythm.

After having this toy for over a year I am ready to throw it away if it weren't such a great book end. It is somewhat heavy and has rubber stoppers great for your child's book shelf.

Feel free to replace and buy new batteries the results will always be the same. The directions state that if that happens you should turn it off wait a few seconds and turn it back on again. This never once fixed the problem. Since this problem is noted in the instruction manual the company won't do anything about it unless you are the original purchaser with the receipt. Ours was a gift.

Good luck with this toy. I have moved on to find ones worth my time that won't disable my child's musical talent.

 "Blue light is blinding" 2010-01-05
By S. Kirchner (Brooklyn)
We just got this as a Christmas gift. I like the selection of music, and how it doesn't sound plinky and annoying, like all the other toys that play music that we have. I also like the two volume options. However, I hesitate to use it, because the blue light is BLINDING. I can't look at it without hurting my eyes, so I certainly won't give it to my baby to look at. All the other lights are fine. When we use it, either it is away from us playing music so we don't see it, or I keep my finger over the blue light.

"great sound, great value, great toy!!!" 2010-01-03
By M. Conway (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada)
I love the small size of the toy and that it does not weight a lot. My 1 year old has no problem holding it for long periods of time including car rides. I think it would also be easy for young infants (4 months) to hold and use. The quality of the sound is great and it is not too loud. It acutally sounds like its coming from a cd player not a toy. My only wish is that the lights were not as bright. When traveling home at night it is a bit distracting even coming from the back seat. An amazing value and toy for only $10

 "Daughter LOVES it" 2010-01-03
By M. Wray
I don't do a lot of product reviews but, being a new mom of a now 7-month old, I probably should. We've got every gadget and toy known to mankind. About this toy...my daughter actually has 3 of them. Yes, 3 of them! There is 1 at Nana's house, 1 in the diaper bag, and 1 in her play area. That is how much she loves this toy. We were out browsing around one day and I had forgotten to bring along any entertainment for her (hence how toy #2 was purchased). I saw this and turned it on just to show her, as I often do with toys to see if/how she reacts. She lit up immediately. She smiled her huge smile, patted her hands, made her sounds...she made her wants clear! Toy #3 was actually ordered off Amazon (prior to the purchase of toy #2) because I knew how much she loved the one at Nana's house. It's actually NOT an annoying toy at all as many of those that make music and light up can be. The lights are enjoyable for her and the music is actually quite nice. And now that she's teething she quite enjoys gnawing on the caterpillar! So...yes, I highly recommend this product. Cheap entertainment that does the trick!

This is a great toy to buy. My son has played with it for 11 months and he still likes it a lot. It is one of the toys we take when we go out to eat or go in public. What impressed me the most is that it's very well constructed. My son has dropped it many times and it hasn't broken yet. I highly recommend it.

 "great for the price." 2009-01-11
By Missouri Mom
This is not anywhere close to a real instrument, but kids love it. My nephew got this for christmas and it much easier to play than the trumpet version of this toy, but the boys were parading around the house tooting in no time. They marched for hours and still play with them regularly weeks later. They fight over the saxaphone though, it is easier for them to blow on and use the buttons. I would buy this item again. And maybe try the clarinet next time.

"Very disappointed - broke right away" 2008-12-26
By A. Smith
I, too, thought I had done my homework so I was extremely disappointed when I took this sax out of the box for my son and discovered how cheaply made this toy is. It is an extremely light-weight and flimsy plastic that feels like it could "snap" if you held it too hard. The mouth piece broke the second time he picked it up to play with it. This will end up in the trash tomorrow and I would never buy another Bontempi instrument nor would I recommend one to anyone.
