 "Blue light is blinding" 2010-01-05
By S. Kirchner (Brooklyn)
We just got this as a Christmas gift. I like the selection of music, and how it doesn't sound plinky and annoying, like all the other toys that play music that we have. I also like the two volume options. However, I hesitate to use it, because the blue light is BLINDING. I can't look at it without hurting my eyes, so I certainly won't give it to my baby to look at. All the other lights are fine. When we use it, either it is away from us playing music so we don't see it, or I keep my finger over the blue light.

"great sound, great value, great toy!!!" 2010-01-03
By M. Conway (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada)
I love the small size of the toy and that it does not weight a lot. My 1 year old has no problem holding it for long periods of time including car rides. I think it would also be easy for young infants (4 months) to hold and use. The quality of the sound is great and it is not too loud. It acutally sounds like its coming from a cd player not a toy. My only wish is that the lights were not as bright. When traveling home at night it is a bit distracting even coming from the back seat. An amazing value and toy for only $10

 "Daughter LOVES it" 2010-01-03
By M. Wray
I don't do a lot of product reviews but, being a new mom of a now 7-month old, I probably should. We've got every gadget and toy known to mankind. About this toy...my daughter actually has 3 of them. Yes, 3 of them! There is 1 at Nana's house, 1 in the diaper bag, and 1 in her play area. That is how much she loves this toy. We were out browsing around one day and I had forgotten to bring along any entertainment for her (hence how toy #2 was purchased). I saw this and turned it on just to show her, as I often do with toys to see if/how she reacts. She lit up immediately. She smiled her huge smile, patted her hands, made her sounds...she made her wants clear! Toy #3 was actually ordered off Amazon (prior to the purchase of toy #2) because I knew how much she loved the one at Nana's house. It's actually NOT an annoying toy at all as many of those that make music and light up can be. The lights are enjoyable for her and the music is actually quite nice. And now that she's teething she quite enjoys gnawing on the caterpillar! So...yes, I highly recommend this product. Cheap entertainment that does the trick!

 "Great Toy!" 2009-12-30
By Rodolfo Guevara (Los Angeles, USA)
This is a great toy to buy. My son has played with it for 11 months and he still likes it a lot. It is one of the toys we take when we go out to eat or go in public. What impressed me the most is that it's very well constructed. My son has dropped it many times and it hasn't broken yet. I highly recommend it.

This is a nice little take-a-long for the car to keep little ones occupied. It plays short classical themes. Nice.

 "for music lovers!" 2009-12-17
By Ariane Ramirez (Texas United States)
When my son's first birthday came up, I knew I wanted to get him a Baby Einstein Takealong Tunes because I had seen how much his cousin loved hers and because I wanted to expose my child to music at an early age. The music featured comes from some of the most well known composers ever. We call it his "radio"/"baby iPod" and it's one of his favorite toys. It's easy for him to turn on and off, easy to carry around, he loves the lights, and he loves to have the music playing in the background when he's playing with other toys. If your child is a bit rough or likes to randomly drop things repeatedly things, it's also VERY durable and has survived being slammed, thrown and stepped on. After four months, the batteries are still going strong which is good. Like other reviewers have said, the volume is not loud or annoying (for when you're in a public place like a doctor's office where it really comes in handy).

We jokingly call this our son's "Baby iPod". Nicholas is 10 months old and has had this for about 4 months. He likes to watch the lights and the button is easy for him to press. He also likes to chew on the handle! The toy is very portable -- easy to clip onto linking rings to keep it from getting lost. The sound is good quality and the songs are upbeat and fun. It's a great buy for the price.

I received this today. I'm giving it to my 5-year-old brother who has cerebral palsy. We'll see how he responds. The sounds and lights are entertaining. I don't love the circular pad on the front. It's just coated paper, and the colors don't represent individual buttons. It's just one button under there. Before I figured that out I thought the red wasn't working! The label says it helps with hand-eye coordination. I guess it teaches children that sounds and colors appear when they press the button. It would've been nice if there were individual buttons that trigger the same colors. Then toddlers could consciously trigger certain colors.

"My baby daughter LOVES this toy" 2009-12-07
By Jonathan Patil (Anywhere, But Rome)
We were driving home last night, and in the back of the car, in the dark, my wife was observing our daughters big sparkling bright eyes fascinated with the blinking lights and melody. I give this product full marks, but had a couple ideas to make it even better:

- make the handle soft so a teething baby can chew on it

- more tunes!

- make it possible to cycle through songs, both backwards and forwards (e.g. using two buttons, etc)

"and the crying just STOPS" 2009-12-07
By A. E Sheely (Kissimmee, FL United States)
We have a 9-month-old child that just loves any type of music. My husband bought this for him as an impulse item a couple months ago and the baby just LOVES it. He will be crying and the music just stops him in his tracks.

It's been dropped, thrown, chewed on and it's still working. Of course, I do need to put in new batteries. But that's okay, he loves pushing the button to make it play. We've also used the linking rings to hang it from the car seat or swing so that it's within reach for him.

Add to that, many of the songs are the same as the Baby Einstein Lullabies cd, and I know that it will calm him down in almost any circumstance.
